Dedicated Country Services

Most documents are translated under our general service, but two regions have their own document types and legal frameworks detailed enough to warrant dedicated pages. You can also browse by document on our documents we translate hub, or by receiving body on our immigration authorities hub.

How Document Translation Differs by Region

Certified translation is never just swapping words. Scripts, document formats, and authentication rules change from one region to the next. Whether a document needs an apostille depends on its country of origin and the destination country, both of which must be members of the Hague Apostille Convention for an apostille to apply.

Region Languages & Scripts Common Documents Typical Authentication
South Asia Urdu, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati (Perso-Arabic, Bengali, Devanagari scripts) Nikah Nama, Kabin Nama, FRC, birth and education certificates Apostille where available, otherwise attestation by the foreign ministry
Middle East & North Africa Arabic (right-to-left script), Persian, Turkish Civil records, diplomas, medical certificates Varies: Turkey is an Apostille member, while Egypt, the UAE, Qatar and Jordan are not, so consular legalization is common there
East Asia Mandarin, Korean, Japanese (logographic and mixed scripts) Family registers, household records, transcripts, diplomas Apostille (Japan, South Korea, and mainland China since November 2023; Hong Kong and Macao earlier)
Europe Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Polish Birth and marriage certificates, police records, diplomas Apostille (Hague Convention members)
Latin America Spanish, Portuguese Civil registry records, academic transcripts Apostille (most Spanish-speaking countries are members)
Sub-Saharan Africa French, Arabic, Yoruba, Amharic, Swahili and others Educational records, civil documents, police certificates Varies by country: apostille or consular attestation

We translate the document and, where present, the apostille or legalization text, so the full record reads correctly in English. The legal translation page explains how authentication and translation work together.

Two guides go deeper: birth certificate translation requirements by country, and whether European countries require a sworn translator.

Translation Services Across the United States

Within the US, each state has its own rules for driver's licenses, courts and vital records. Our state pages explain what offices in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Texas and Virginia ask for, with links to the official sources.

See all of them on translation services by state, including local pages for New York City, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, DC, Boston and Atlanta.

Why Country-Specific Expertise Matters

Receiving authorities apply detailed rules to foreign documents. US filings, for example, are judged against the full-translation standard in 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), and getting the regional details right is what keeps a translation from being questioned.

Local document formats

A Pakistani Nikah Nama, a Japanese family register, and a German Geburtsurkunde are structured nothing alike. We reproduce each layout faithfully so officers can match it to the original.

Native-script accuracy

Right-to-left Arabic, Chinese characters, and Perso-Arabic Urdu are transliterated and translated by linguists who work in those scripts, with names rendered consistently throughout.

Authority-ready formatting

Every translation ships with a signed Certificate of Accuracy and is formatted for the receiving body, whether that is USCIS, IRCC, UKVI, or a credential evaluator.
